LISBON, Oct 6
The first session of the Health Access and Awareness program launched Monday at FIBI’s headquarters in Amadora, marking an important step toward improving healthcare access and promoting health literacy within the community.
Organized in collaboration with professionals from the Escola Nacional de Saúde Pública, the initiative places special emphasis on cardiovascular health and diabetes prevention. Throughout October, participants will be able to attend seven interactive sessions designed to empower the immigrant community with practical, life-changing knowledge about their health.
During the sessions, attendees will receive expert guidance on nutrition and learn strategies for preventing and managing diabetes and hypertension. Nurses will also conduct screenings, giving participants valuable insights into their own health.
The program aims to equip the community with the tools and information needed to make informed health decisions, ultimately fostering healthier lifestyles and stronger, more informed communities.
